It’s like “Twin Peaks”, only not, er, kooky. And there are no dancing dwarfs. At least, not one that I can see. AMC’s “The Killing” has the makings of a really, really good murder-mystery show, but it’s also got one heck of a major “investment” component that most people probably won’t be able to give it. The entire thing is focused on one murder (the “killing” of the title), with various characters becoming involved, led by homicide cop Sarah Linden (played by Mireille Enos, who looks appropriately “cop-ish”, and not the “supermodels in designer clothes posing as fake TV cops” in shows like “CSI” and its ilk). It’s a great idea, and the previews that AMC have released for the show makes it look incredibly promising, but like I said, you are really going to have to invest a lot of time with this, and missing an episode here and there is probably not a good idea.
